How fishing works
- Hold to cast your bobber into the water, then wait for a bite.
- While you wait, shaking the rod makes fish bite faster.
- When a fish bites, a reeling bar appears: hold and release to keep the white bar on the blue line. A few slips are fine.
- When the progress bar at the bottom fills up, the fish is yours.
Beginner progression
- You start on Moosewood with the Flimsy Rod. Sell your catches to the merchant for C$.
- Your first upgrades are on Moosewood: the Plastic Rod (750 C$), Carbon Rod (2,000 C$) and Lucky Rod (4,500 C$, 177% luck) are cheap and solid.
- Next, head to Roslit Bay for the Fortune Rod (11,000 C$, 200% luck) or the Rapid Rod if you want faster bites.
- Save up for the Kings Rod (100,000 C$) at the Keeper's Altar, which can land fish of any weight.
- Fill out your bestiary as you go: some rods, like the Destiny Rod, need a certain bestiary percentage.
Save Nate quest walkthrough
- Go to Nate's Cave on Sunstone Island and talk to Miso, Nate's cat.
- Search the cave for clues and unlock Nate's computer.
- Find Nate's Blade fragments in Crimson Cavern and the Depths Maze, then bring them back to Nate's Cave to rebuild the blade.
- Finish the challenges at Moosewood Dock, the Volcano and Snowcap Cave to fully power up the blade.
- Follow Nate's belongings through the Desolate Deep to the hideout and beat the mad doctor to rescue Nate.
Enchanting and upgrades
- Buy Enchant Relics from Merlin on Sunstone Island.
- Take them to the Keeper's Altar at the Statue of Sovereignty to enchant your rod.
- The Enchant Anywhere game pass lets you skip the trip if you already hold a relic.
